The Department of Computer Information Systems and Business Analytics (CIS & BSAN) in the College of Business at James Madison University (JMU) invites applications for a renewable term appointment with the rank of Lecturer. The appointment begins in the Fall 2020 semester.
The normal teaching load will be 4/4, i.e., four 3-credit courses each semester during the regular academic year. In addition to teaching, this position requires general service to the institution and the ability to maintain professional qualifications.
About the Department: The Department of CIS & BSAN is an academic unit of the College of Business and has 26 full-time faculty members, over 650 CIS majors, 100 CIS minors and more than 50 BSAN minors. In addition, the Department supports the College by providing core business classes in information systems, business analytics, and operations management. The Department places a primary emphasis on its undergraduate programs that includes hands-on projects, laboratory exercises, case analyses, and engaging classroom experiences designed to prepare graduates to work independently and in team-oriented environments. The CIS program is accredited by ABET, and ranked #5 in the U.S. and #1 in Virginia by College Factual.
In addition to high involvement in undergraduate education, departmental faculty members play a vital role in the delivery of the College's Executive Leadership MBA, Innovation MBA and Information Security MBA programs. Outside the academic community, faculty members maintain strong connections with the consulting industry in Northern Virginia and Richmond, and interact regularly with members of the Department’s advisory board.

The successful candidate will join a dedicated team of CIS & BSAN faculty providing instruction in the core business curriculum. Candidates will be expected to teach business statistics, operations management, and/or management science at the undergraduate level. Preference will be given to candidates who are capable of teaching both statistics and one of the other two subjects.
Master’s degree in statistics, operations management, management science, or in a closely related discipline is required.
Candidates must provide evidence of professional engagement in accordance with AACSB standards.
Teaching experience in a quantitative discipline is preferred.
