At Sonoma Water, entry-level Water Agency Construction Engineers are the primary point of contact for projects in the field and perform construction inspections, material testing, and constructability reviews. First-level Construction Engineers develop preliminary engineering designs used to help ensure resiliency with the Agency's water, wastewater, and flood control infrastructure as well as the natural and working lands within the watershed. Collaborating with internal staff and external partners, Construction Engineers may direct the work of engineering paraprofessionals as well as contractors and vendors. This position conducts field and office work, with frequent visits to pump stations, treatment plants, water storage and production facilities, and groundwater recharge basins.
What You Bring to the Position
The ideal candidate is a self-starter who enjoys working in collaborative team environments and possesses education and some experience in construction management and inspections for projects related to watershed, water supply, sanitation and flood control systems. The most qualified candidates will possess:
- The ability to read, comprehend, and interpret construction documents (plans and specifications)
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office programs and applications
