The Data Scientist will be a subject matter expert in guiding major analytics efforts across the organization. Time will be spent developing junior analysts within the organization to ensure that bench strength is developed and that a data-driven culture is supported throughout Darigold.
As part of the Supply Chain Design Team that focuses on operations research, statistics, modeling, data analysis to inform the senior leadership team on opportunities in the physical network and processes. The Data Scientist will be highly visible while creating solutions for a complex, vertically integrated supply chain. You will have the opportunity to not only present findings directly to decision makers but also help transition into automated decision support systems. As part of a small, focused team, you will collaborate on developing tools and standards to improve decision making and productivity.
What You Will Do
- Manage large amounts of data specific to Supply Chain analytical projects, problem solving, and decision support.
- Apply practical logistics and supply chain knowledge to replicate physical systems.
- Develop analytical models related to facility location, distribution flow, vehicle routing, production scheduling, resource allocation, capacity planning and inventory strategy using open source/commercial solvers or internally developed algorithms.
- Develop simulations to help answer challenging questions on complex processes at plants.
- Identify, define, and scope areas/problems requiring constant decision making that can benefit from decision support systems.
- Lead efforts in the design, development, and deployment of decision support systems.
- Expand Supply Chain Design service offerings to push for more data-driven culture.
- Create clear, concise, and insightful data-driven presentation materials and communicate (both written and verbal) to a variety of audiences at all levels within the business.
- Collaborate across business functions and focus on driving a data-driven outlook
What You Bring:
- Masters in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Operations Research, or closely related field.
- 5+ years of experience creating data-driven solutions using Optimization, Simulations and Statistics.
- Experience in Supply Chain and Manufacturing a strong plus.
Nice to Have’s
- Solid understanding of Optimization Theory and Methods accompanied by expertise in open-source or commercial solvers such as Gurobi, or Lamasoft Supply Chain Guru, CPLEX and Xpress.
- Deep expertise in formulating Linear and Mixed Integer Programming models, understanding of solve performance trade-offs between formulations.
- Understanding of discrete event systems accompanied with experience in open-source simulation frameworks.
- Development experience in at least one programming language (Python, C++, Java) and understanding of Object-Oriented Design.
- Experience with relational databases such as SQL Server and MySQL.
- Experience with visualization tool such as Power BI, Tableau
- Experience designing, developing, and deploying decision support systems a plus.
- Experience with cloud technologies and services a plus.
Education, Experience and Certifications
