The Operations and Information Management Division at BABSONCOLLEGE invites applications for a full-time, tenure track position as Assistant Professor of Operations Management beginning in fall 2024. While our expectation is to appoint at the Assistant Professor level, in exceptional cases we will consider appointments at the rank of Associate Professor. Candidates must be committed to excellence in teaching, research, and service.

The candidate should be engaged in rigorous research in areas such as design, design thinking, innovation, new product development, or AI/ML in operations
Has a vibrant research stream that is both interesting to academics and practically relevant to business managers.
Is passionate about teaching undergraduates and graduate students, has a proven track record with experiential teaching methods and teaching excellence, and is interested in getting involved with innovative teaching approaches and materials.
Is curious about and comfortable with technology and the possibility of teaching in a blended/online environment. Responsibilities will include teaching graduate and undergraduate classes related to design thinking, and teaching core operations management.
Is a team player who is willing to lead and collaborate with faculty from multiple disciplines to design and teach integrated curriculum.
Has some experience working with practitioners in the field of design and innovation (design consultancies, internal design labs, innovation hubs, R&D groups, etc).
Has the ability to navigate and embrace complexity, ambiguity, and change.
Is experienced in teaching, service, and scholarship in ways that will enhance the college’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Will be a fun, engaging, and helpful colleague who is committed to the success of the operations and information management division and Babson College.
Has a Ph.D. or related terminal degree in Operations Management or a closely related field, and ideally at least 2-3 years of teaching and research experience at an AACSB or EQUIS accredited institution after graduation.

Division Summary:
The Operations and Information Management Division is a community of collaborative and supportive colleagues who actively engage in cutting-edge research and innovative teaching. The Division comprises 13 full-time tenure/tenure track faculty members, 7 full-time professors of practice, and 12 adjunct instructors. The Division includes faculty with expertise teaching and researching issues related to evolving technologies that accelerate and change the nature of the design, development, production, and distribution of information, products, and services. The current opening is for the area of our division focused on Innovation and Operations Management, and current faculty in this area are engaged in research and teaching on issues including innovation, design, sustainability, health-care operations, and strategic issues in operations. Our faculty publish in a wide range of outlets including journals of the Academy of Management, PDMA, POMS, IEEE, and INFORMS as well as having a regular presence in practitioner outlets such as Sloan Management Review and Harvard Business Review.
