Católica Lisbon School of Business and Economics invites applications for a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor position for the Operations, Information Systems and Data Science group starting in September 2023. Seasoned Assistant or Associate Professors interested in applying will also be considered in the search at their appropriate level.
Applicants must have a PhD degree in a quantitative field such as operations research, decision sciences, information systems, computer science, or statistics. The ideal candidate will have a strong research record, or show potential to produce research of the highest quality. The use of core tools from data science to answer questions relevant to business decision-makers is considered a strong plus. Preference will be given to applicants with a demonstrated ability to use these techniques for research.
CATÓLICA-LISBON is dedicated to developing the field of data science in its connection and application to industry to tackle business and economics problems. As such, successful candidates coming from programs outside business and economics are expected to develop research agendas that bridge to and can address managerial or economic problems.
Priority consideration will be given to applications received by October 8th, 2023, but applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

Position Requirements
Católica-Lisbon is a research-focused institution and tenure-track faculty are expected to maintain a research program targeted at top-tier journals in their field. Católica-Lisbon provides ample support to do so. Salary is competitive; the school provides funding for research-related activities, including travel to international conferences. Teaching requirements for tenure-track positions are reduced and scheduled with the goal of allowing ample research time.
Candidates must demonstrate the potential to publish in top-tier management journals. For Associate positions, candidates are expected to show a strong research track record in top journals, excellence in teaching, and the ability to add to the research reputation and productivity of the group.
Faculty in the group of Operations, Information Systems, and Data Science publish regularly in top journals such as Management Science, Information Systems Research, Management Information Systems Quarterly, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, Operations Research among other top journals in the field.

About CATÓLICA-LISBON School of Business & Economics
CATÓLICA-LISBON’s Business and Economics Research Unit is called CUBE and was created in 1997. It includes all of the research Faculty of the School as well as full-time researchers with a doctoral degree who work with the Faculty to advance the state of knowledge in their fields. CUBE has over fifty members and is led by a Faculty Director who manages a small team of research support staff who do financial project management, researchers management, dissemination activities and Faculty support activities.
In periodic assessments by the Portuguese Science and Technology Foundation’s (FCT) panels of international experts, CUBE has received the highest grade of Excellent since evaluations started 20 years ago. In 2013 it was considered the top research center for all social sciences in Portugal with a rating of 24.5 out of 25. In the most recent evaluation of 2019 which was done in different disciplinary fields, CUBE was considered the top research unit in Portugal in Management research.
